Be Intentional in your Marriage

How have you all been? Hope your year has been going smoothly?

Easter Sunday

I have been spending more time on personal needs that took me aware from you all.

There’s been so much going on here on social media as usual.

However, lately I have seen marriages having issues. It is almost rampant. Your faves and idols are splitting and more.

I want to remind us to be intentional about anything that matters to us.

Do remember, anything worth doing should be done well.

Do not leave your marriage or marital duties to chances.

Have a structure or plan; over time this can be part of you.

I do pray God protect all marriages.

Praying for couples, especially those having a difficult time.

May they retrace their steps and find favour in God’s sight.

Marriage is a lovely institution established by God.

May couples not be so worldly to lose focus.

May those who place their hope and trust in God not be put to shame.

Praying that marriages stand the test of time.

Asking for a happy and safer home for parents and kids.

Mid-Year Check-In: Are You on Track With Your Goals?

Time to pause and check how your year has been so far

It is that time of the year again. We have reached the midpoint of the year, it’s the perfect time to pause, reflect, and evaluate our progress towards our goals. The goals we set at the beginning of the year may have felt ambitious and full of promise, but now is the moment to assess where we stand.

Let’s take a look at the importance of conducting a mid-year check-in and provide insights on how to realign and refocus to ensure you stay on track with your goals.

Vivien Ayinotu on a Sunday after church.

1. Reflect on Your Initial Goals

Start by revisiting the goals you set at the beginning of the year. Take a moment to review what you wanted to achieve and why those goals were important to you. Reflect on the progress you have made thus far, celebrating any accomplishments along the way. Acknowledge any areas where you may have fallen short and consider the reasons behind it. This reflection will provide a clear understanding of where you stand today.

2. Evaluate Your Progress

Once you have a clear picture of your initial goals, it’s time to evaluate your progress. Assess the milestones you have reached and the actions you have taken towards your goals. Look for patterns or trends that may have emerged. Consider the obstacles or challenges you encountered and how you overcame them. This evaluation will help you identify what has been working well and what areas may require adjustment or additional effort.

3.Reassess and Prioritize

After evaluating your progress, it’s essential to reassess your goals and priorities. Are your initial goals still relevant and aligned with your current aspirations? Consider whether circumstances or priorities have shifted throughout the year. You may find that some goals need to be modified, replaced, or even discarded. Be honest with yourself about what truly matters to you and where you want to direct your focus for the remainder of the year.

4. Break Down Your Goals

If you discover that you are off track with your goals, don’t be discouraged. Break down your goals into smaller and actionable steps. This approach allows you to create a roadmap that guides your actions moving forward. By breaking down your goals, you make them more manageable and increase your chances of success. Each small step you take brings you closer to the ultimate achievement.

5. Create a Plan and Set Milestones

With your refined goals in mind, it’s time to create a plan of action. Outline the specific steps you need to take to reach your goals and set realistic deadlines for each milestone. Make sure your plan is flexible enough to accommodate unforeseen circumstances or potential roadblocks. By having a well-defined plan, you gain clarity and focus, making it easier to stay on track and measure your progress.

6. Seek Accountability and Support

Accountability plays a crucial role in achieving our goals. Share your revised goals and action plan with someone you trustā€”a friend, family member, or mentorā€”who can provide support and hold you accountable. Regular check-ins with your accountability partner can help you stay motivated and on course. Additionally, consider joining a community or group of like-minded individuals who share similar goals. The collective support and shared experiences can be incredibly empowering.

7. Stay Focused and Adapt

As you continue your journey towards your goals, it’s important to stay focused and committed. However, be prepared to adapt as needed. Life is dynamic, and circumstances may change unexpectedly. Embrace flexibility and be willing to adjust your plans if necessary. Remember that progress is not always linear, and setbacks or detours can provide valuable lessons and opportunities for growth.

Conclusion

The midpoint of the year presents an ideal opportunity to assess an individual’s progress, realign goals, and refocus efforts. By reflecting on initial goals, evaluating your progress, reassessing and prioritizing, breaking down goals, creating a plan, seeking accountability and support, and staying adaptable it enables one to make the most of remainder of the year. Use this mid-year check-in as a springboard for renewed motivation and determination to achieve the goals that matter most to an individua. It’s never too late to course-correct and make significant strides towards your aspirations.

Yvonne Nelson’s Book; Telling Her Truth

My views on the news regarding Yvonne Nelson’s book

Image Source; Yvonne Nelson Facebook Page

I read about the contents of the newly published book by Yvonne Nelson; a Ghanaian actress. It is no longer news that she revealed so much about her personal life.

It is her story and it upto her to share and at her own time.

Wow! My heart goes out to Yvonne Nelson. It’s her guts to share her story with the world.

How can one not know their real father for that long?

Image Source: Yvonne Nelson Facebook page

Dear parents, please you can do better. Let your kids know their true story. It doesn’t matter if the situation or the personality of the other parent.

Do not allow them live a lie. It is wrong.

We live in a society where you are encouraged to voice out YET when you do so, you are told you shouldn’t have.

How do you preach SPEAK UP whilst you meant SHUT UP?

In the book, she talked about her failed relationships, pregnancy and abortion. She mentioned names of celebrities too.

It is her story. She has lived with them for long now and it’s her choice to share with the world or whom she who she wants.

Do you think she doesn’t know the consequences of such? I doubt.
.

I hope she find some closure, satisfaction or whatever her intents were by speaking her truth.

Celebrities are humans too.

PS: I haven’t read the book yet. I wrote based on information circulating online and on her social media page.

Working Girl

I want to encourage any hardworking lady who is yet to find love. This piece is written specifically for those who feel pressured too. I want you to know that you are doing great. You donā€™t need to be unhappy with yourself because you havenā€™t found someone yet.

In fact, celebrate yourself. Invest more in yourself, work harder. Earning your own money is a bonus. Invest as much as you can. Do not think otherwise. This is the only phase of your life you will be thinking of no one else but you.

At times, we donā€™t seem to have it all figured out. You would be surprised how many homes dealing with what you canā€™t even tolerate in a relationship. My point is you do not need to be hard on yourself, you can pull this. Chin up!

Regarding relationships, know the things you hold in high esteem and you can forgo or patch up the rest. There are people out there who love you the way you are. You are someoneā€™s spec.

Even the married ones are still learning and unlearning. I wouldnā€™t talk much on the spiritual aspect but you have to get this sorted too. Do the needful and trust God.

Do give relationships your best till you get what you desire. Relationships needs your time too. Everyone deserved to be loved whole heartedly.

When you pray about it, do your very best, I donā€™t see you not getting it right. Time will tell.

No relationship or marriage is šŸ’Æ% perfect.

We are all work in progress. People who want it to work are consciously and very intentionally making it to work. More like saying nurture relationships or love, if not so vice versa.

Nowadays, numerous people are running away from discussing sensitive topics. However, you do not need to suffer in silence. You will be amazed the kind of support you will get when you confide in someone you trust or a professional.

In the meantime, so long as you havenā€™t decided to be a nun, wedding bells will ring someday. Maybe sooner than youā€™d imagined.

Good luck šŸ™šŸ¼

Do Not Mislead Others

I was having a chat with a friend the other day before you know it we were talking about clubbing. Boom! Is clubbing a sin or not, came up.

Here is the thing, in the club, no one praises God or dances to glorify God. People are almost naked or wear revealing clothes. Nothing Godly happens in that environment. Iā€™m I lying?

People get drunk, drugged and all sorts. The drink and substances take the blame for consequent actions; regardless of whether they are intentional or not. Letā€™s assume the later.

I will like to remind us that none of those acts are limited to clubbing alone because they can be done inside and outside the club too.

At a point in our conversation, she was like ā€œ I can go there just to watch, I donā€™t drink or smoke, just to have fun with friends thatā€™s it.ā€

ā€œHey! Thatā€™s not a fellowship Sis.ā€ I responded.

Do you know just watching can be a form of sin on its own. You heard me. It is a sin to watch certain contents, watching such can equally lead to sin.

Sin is sin regardless of how you rationalise it. That you involve in certain acts you feel it is ok to do does not make it any thing less of a sin.

Similarly, few years ago, that was how I found myself discussing with several people who think it is ok to be pregnant before marriage. Like, I had these conversations with different men and women. Seriously, how do you play God?

Ok, you eventually have twin pregnancy, does that validate marriage?
Now, fertility expert with a baby! Have you heard of secondary infertility? What if that child (s) dies? Please, lets have the right mindset and a good foundation. Always, place God above all things.

When things donā€™t feel right, they are not right. For instance,

Just like one can intentionally lie

Just like one can intentionally fornicate

Just like one can intentionally commit adultery

Just like one can intentionally exploit people. The list is endless.

If you find yourself guilty of certain sins, seek help, read the scripture, guard your heart, know those you mingle with. Be disciplined. These things can not be over emphasised. Guard your soul. Join a prayer group to lift your soul; you need help to get better.

However, no matter what the situation is, desist from encouraging others to follow your steps or mask your actions. That you find yourself regularly committing same acts of sin does not purify it or makes it pleasing to God.

That you have been guilty of an act doesnā€™t mean can not preach it.

When you pray, do ask for the gift of discernment.

Remember, God is spirit. So, you do not know your case in the spiritual world.

Please, if you read some of my posts and feel concerned, you can directly reach out to me here or on different social media platforms. If it affects you that means my writing is relevant as I write about lives and you are human.

Disclaimer: I am on journey to be a better person and serve God better. I am a sinner. The fact that I sin does not make me twist Godā€™s word to suit me. Sin is sin regardless.

May God help usšŸ™šŸ¼

Keep Trusting God

Most times, it is only when we are a step away to achieve that massive gamechanger that we begin to envisage doubts. This is a very common occurrence and has stopped lots of people from attaining greater heights.

You have spent time, sweat, sacrificed for this very goal only to give up now? It is mid year and you are questioning what you have achieved so far. People around you can show a thing or two they have aced this year but not you.

The social media isnā€™t helping too. People post their success stories left right and center, even itā€™s mere studio pictures. Do not be deceived. My Dear, mere being alive and reading this post is something. Look around you, there are many things you can celebrate and post too, if you wish.

Stay focused. You are unique and the best version of yourself. Prioritise your needs. You will achieve your target. Take those steady and consistent actions. Do not give up.

Give no room negativity such as:

Is this worth doing anymore?

Can I forge ahead?

What will happen in the long run if this and that and the other goes wrong?

At times, it appears as if we have forgotten how far we have come. How much we have laboured.

How we have longed for such a time. How much we have sacrificed or let go of.

Can I ask you, why doubt God now?

Since when do you really need to have it all figured out?

I KNOW you do not always have it all figured out.

Simply take that bold step and leave the rest to God.

Just keep trusting and believing in God.

Your Mental Health Matters; Let’s Break The Silence

Recently, I spoke with a friend and was worried when she raised concerns regarding her mental health. Our mental health should be made a priority no matter the situation at hand.

It is important that we understand that issues pertaining to one’s mental health shouldn’t be taken slightly. Of utmost important is when people begin to feel suicidal and can’t see the essence of their life snd began to regret the things that really matters to them.

At times, self blame is all they can see. This is the point when They are most venerable and need help. Some family members or close friends can help no matter how they resent you initially or even blame you to be part of the problem. Do seek help.

Let’s takeĀ  the ongoing royal news of Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah’s for example. There were mention of concerning topics ranging from racism to mental health issues; where a person got to the point of not wanting to be alive any more. I am shocked to see how many comments that still criticises that very aspect. Like, it can’t be made up people. My writing isn’t to discuss the royals saga with you but to highlight certain issues.

No one should be ignored or pushed aside when their mental health is at stake regardless of their social status.

You might be surprised to know that life isn’t really what it seems for most people. In my opinion, when you feel challenged, down or really low; do remember you can be brave and wither the storm. Chances are it is only a phase.

Think, take a deep breathe and think deeply, there should be a way out.

There should be things that means a lot to you or people worth living for.

Speak to people.

There should be one or two persons who you can trust to understand, reason and do not judge you.

Please, my dear readers be nice to people.

Be kind to people especially with your words.

Many people are suffering on daily basis.
